Why not just use Google Translate?
Why pay a translator when you can use Google Translate? After all, it’s fast, cheap and easy. You might want to reconsider for the following reasons:
- Google Translate is not able to place the translation in the right context. It has no concept of culture or how culture influences the way we formulate and express ideas.
- It is notorious for making grammatical errors, which in turn has a negative impact on consumer trust.
- It is unable to translate commonly used expressions or use the right tone of voice.
- It does not protect your personal data, which can have serious implications in terms of customer confidentiality.
In a nutshell, Google Translate is simply not professional enough for business.
Having said that, developments in translation automation technologies are not without benefit. In fact, I often use various computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools in my work. The translations and terminology used are stored in a database and can be reused, not only for the same project, but also in future projects. This speeds up the translation process, leading to greater consistency and, consequently, better quality.
Discover the advantages of working directly with a translator instead of through a translation vendor. I am personally committed to delivering accurate, reliable and culturally appropriate translations that enable businesses and individuals to thrive in the global marketplace.
